TRACY’S JOURNEY

Tracy Cooksey has dedicated her life to working with dogs, beginning her journey in the veterinary field at just 15 years old. Early in her career, she witnessed firsthand the heartbreaking reality that many dogs were euthanized due to behavioral challenges — an experience that ignited her passion for training and behavior rehabilitation.

Her path led her to the Pets Ahoy show at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida, where she spent eight years honing her training skills. During that time, Tracy had the unique opportunity to work with rescued animals, helping transform them into confident, capable performers while giving them a second chance at life. This experience deepened her commitment to rescue and reinforced her belief that, with the right guidance, most dogs can thrive.

After her time at SeaWorld, Tracy helped open a professional dog training facility before eventually launching her own business, Diversity K9. Through her work, she recognized a growing need for accessible training resources — especially for families who truly want to keep their dogs but may not have the financial means to address behavioral challenges.

With over 20 years of experience training dogs in professional settings, Tracy has worked with a wide range of dogs across multiple disciplines. Her experience includes training personal protection dogs as well as odor detection dogs for explosives and narcotics, giving her a deep understanding of canine behavior, drive, and communication.
This need became the foundation for the Fritz Fry K9 Foundation. Tracy created the nonprofit with a clear mission: to provide education, tools, and support to dog owners who might not otherwise have access to professional training. Her goal is simple but powerful—to keep dogs in their homes, out of shelters, and set both dogs and their owners up for success.

“There are countless amazing dogs out there, and with the right understanding and guidance, every dog has the potential to become a well-balanced, beloved companion.”
